Swimming Lessons

Last week was my kids first week in swimming lessons.  On the first day they were both scared and didn't do to well, on the second day Kate threw a tantrum because she was so scared but then decided to be brave and did awesome the rest of the lesson, and by the third day she was a champ.  Max... not so much.  He's still really scared, but he did so much better on the third day than he had been.  He still cried, but at least he didn't run away from the teacher.

The class I have them in is a Survival class.  They both have never really been in the water very much so we're starting at the very beginning.  The instructor teaches everything you would need to know if you actually fell in the water.  How to blow bubbles under water so you don't swallow any, how to float on your back, kick to the edge of the pool and get out without using the stairs.  She's really good with the kids and I like that she makes them do things even if they don't want to.   Here are some pictures of that third day.

Max's face in this picture both cracks me up and makes me feel sad for him!

Poor boy is dreading his turn.

They have three more classes and then they will be done for the summer.  I will have to be more on the ball next year about signing  them up so they can have more sessions to learn!
