Dustin's New Artwork

My husband Dustin is a Graphic Designer. His favorite type of work is doing illustrations, particularly those of sports genre. He recently did an illustration of Kevin Garnett using a new style and needs people's opinions on it. So please take a look at it and post your initial reaction and feelings about it as a comment either on the website or here on our blog. It would really help him out as he is trying to gauge peoples reactions to this type of work. Also, be honest. He can take criticism.

If for some reason that link doesn't take you directly to the artwork then just go to www.illustratorworld.com and click on "Art Added 28 October 2008" on the right hand side. You'll be able to figure out which one is his.

*He also did the illustration of us that is at the top of our blog. Just wanted to point that out :)

Bargain Shopping

I’m a bargain shopper. I hate to pay retail for anything. I shop the clearance racks at the mall, go to yard sales, and also shop at discount and second-hand stores. And for a while now, that has applied to groceries as well. Right now, with the economy the way it is and everything being so ridiculously expensive- I wanted to let everyone else know about it too. It’s called The Grocery Game (www.thegrocerygame.com), and it’ll save you a ton on groceries. It takes about 10-12 weeks to really get going on it, but it’s so worth it. What it does is this: It tracks the sales at your favorite grocery store, and it tracks the coupons that come out in your Sunday paper. Then it tells you when to use those coupons for already-on-sale items, so you end up getting things for really cheap. It’s awesome. I always save at least 50% on my groceries. Last night I spent $53.24 but saved $59.68! It does have some down sides to it though, you have to be a little more creative with meals that you make, and you have to go shopping early in the week, like Monday or Tuesday. But try it out and decide for yourself! They’ll ask you who referred you so here’s my email: erin4e@yahoo.com.

In other news, things are going well! I went to the doctor yesterday, and she said that everything is looking good. I have an ultrasound on the 25th of next month, so we should be able to find out what it is then!

Baby News and Goofy Golf

Today I officially start my second trimester! Well, according to the book I have. I'm 14 weeks (about 3 1/2 months) and I'm already showing. What?!? I wasn't prepared for this. How big will I be at 8 months? I'm a little afraid, I'm not going to lie :) For all those that are wondering- the first trimester went great! I've been super lucky and have not been sick (knock on wood). I've mainly just been super tired all the time, but that's finally starting to let up a bit (on most days).

Tonight my in-laws came down to visit for fall break. We went and ate at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Unfortunately we waited for over an hour because they forgot about us, again. It happened the last time we went there too. Oh well. Then we went to play goofy golf at Golfland. Maddock even had his own club. While we were trying to take this picture, Maddock snuck in! Apparently he didn't want to be left out. I look terrible in this picture, but it was too funny not to post. This is my mother-in-law helping Maddock to swing the club. Only she helped him a little too much, because she ended up getting a hole in one!

Cold, honey?

For the last 13 weeks, I've been a little warmer than usual. So I've kept the air conditioning at about 73 degrees. This is how Dustin has been coping.

Phoenix Zoo

Today we went to the zoo! We decided to take advantage of the wonderful weather (the high was 72 today!) and Dustin's US Airways discount. US Airways sponsors the Phoenix Zoo, so today all employees (plus one guest) got in for free today. Jaron, Bethany, Maddock, Sherice and Scott all came as well. We had a lot of fun! But then again-- when is the zoo not fun?

The Monkey Village is one of my favorite exhibits! You actually go inside the cage with the little monkeys. Today they were really active and ran right in front of me a couple of times.

As always, the baby orangutan is very entertaining.

This is my nephew Maddock. He was really fun at the zoo today because he has learned how to make his animal sounds. Also, he discovered the water fountain play area.

He got sprayed in the face a couple times. I think he likes it though.

Clients please!!

Okay so I love my job, but I'm so bored all the time! It's hard being a new stylist in a salon and trying to build up your clientele in a rough economy. I know a lot of people don't read this, but I'll take a shot. Please come see me! Or if anyone you know is looking for a hairdresser--send them my way! I'm offering 10% off for new clients. And-- I'm also learning how to do pedicures, so whoever is willing to be a guinea pig- I'm offering 50% off for a while until I feel my work is sufficient. Be sure to ask for Erin Watson, because there are two of us there. :)
