Just for kicks

Here's a side by side comparison of my kids at 6 months old.  They sure look a lot alike don't they?
Also this is my 400th post!  I'm pretty excited about that!

Bath time

(We were having issues with our computer last week.  Thanks to the Apple Genius Bar everything is dandy now so there is a cluster of posts here that I needed to catch up on.)

Now that Max has started eating solids, lets just say he uh...needs a bath EVERY day. You moms know what I mean. It's usually in the morning, and Kate just loves to help me bathe him.  I hope by saying that I didn't take away from the absolute sweetness of these pictures.  I am in LOVE with them.  And I especially love them in black and white.

Max my boy

I just love this little boy so much! He is just the cutest, snuggliest thing ever. I know I've already posted like a billion pictures of him, but I can't resist posting a few more.

Aww... these pictures just make me want to hold him!  So I will :)

Scallywags and Buckaneers away!

I was babysitting my niece and nephew the other day.  Maddock discovered Kate's pirate stuff, and they were entertained for hours! They built a pirate ship and sailed the seven seas.

They pillaged and plundered.  They fought over treasure.  They protected everyone from monsters and dragons.

And Jaylee?

Jaylee said, "I don't want to be a pirate.  I just want to be a princess."  And she set up camp in the Kate's princess tent.

I love these kids!

Kate's Turn

As I was taking Max's 6 month pictures, Kate starts to whine that SHE wants to take pictures too.  At first I just dismissed it, but then she became very insistent so I said, "Okay but you have to get dressed and you have to let me do your hair", and to my surprise she said "OKAY!"  So I took full advantage of that.  And even though she only stayed in front of the camera for about 5 minutes, I got some of my favorite pictures of her ever.

She is such a beautiful girl.

I'm so jealous of her gorgeous eyes!

 Favorite!

"Kate Watson in the hizz-ouse!"  hahahaha!

No wait, this is my favorite!  Ever.  I love my little girl!!

Six Months

Max turned 6 months yesterday!  I always love whatever stage my kids are at, but I really really love this age!!!

He had his well child checkup yesterday.  Dustin took him because I was too sick to go.  Thanks sweetie!  He said everything looks good and his hitting all his milestones.  Current stats are:  19lbs and 27 inches long.  75% for both.  His head is in the 50% but I don't know the exact measurement on it.

Just look at this guy!  I may be a tad biased, but I just think he's the cutest baby ever :)  He's a big healthy boy who eats every 3-4 hours.  Every three hours during the day (almost to the minute) and if I'm lucky I'll get a 4 hour stretch (sometimes, but rarely, a little longer) at night.  I haven't had a good nights sleep in 6 months!  It's worth it though.  I just love having a baby.  And before you say anything, I already know the advice you all are about to give me here.  I do feed him solid food before he goes to bed.  Last night he ate a whole banana, and fully nursed before going to bed and he still woke up after 4 hours.  Kate was the same way though.  I just think these Watson kids have a fast metabolism or something because they are always hungry!!  I can't complain too much though.  Breastfeeding this hungry kid has basically given me permission to eat like a pig and not gain any weight.  Big perk.  BIG perk.

He's in his 6-9 month clothes now but is rapidly growing out of them.  This outfit I had him in for pictures is marked 12 months!  Time to go shopping again!

He has gotten really mobile lately.  He can roll both ways and scoot and it surprises me how far he can move in a little amount of time.  He grabs anything in his reach and puts it in his mouth.  I'm constantly scanning the floor for small objects.

Lets see what else...he drools constantly, blows out of a diaper at least once every day, grabs my hair, scratches my face, he loves TV, oh and he squeals.  Not when he's crying, it's just a noise he makes.  It's a really high pitched squeal and it's really funny.

I just LOVE him.

An actual conversation I just had with my two-year-old

Kate:  I'm going to marry Eric!

Me:  Oh really?

Kate:  yeah.  But I don't know how!

Me: (pause)

Kate: hmmmm.... I got an idea!

Me: What's that?

Kate:  A pixindoss

Me:  Your pink dress?

Kate:  No no no no.  Pixie Dust!

Me:  Pixie Dust?

Kate:  Yeah I will flyyyyyy to Eric and save him from the witch.

Me:  The Sea Witch?

Kate:  Yeah and the (growling whisper) draaaagggooooon!

Me:  (acting scared) A dragon?

Kate:  Yeah but I kill it.

Me:  Then you'll marry Eric?

Kate: No.

Girls...they're so fickle.

Things that make me giggle...

I call this picture

"Teaching your child to ride a bike in 2012"

Speaking of phones, Kate won't get off mine! A word of advice, don't download apps for your children.  You'll regret it.

And this little gem I call, "Kate needs a belt"
That'll make a great bribe in the future.

Yesterday I started Max on some solid food.  He did amazing with it!  He had this look on his face the whole time that was like, "Why haven't you fed me food before Mom?  This is good!"

"Get in my belly!"

Of course, Kate can't stand when she's not the center of attention, so whilst I'm feeding Max I hear "Wook at me mom!  Take a picture!"
She thought that was super hilarious.

Max can sit up now! Which means Kate finally has someone to sit and play tea party with.

Some other things that are funny lately:

The other morning, Kate woke up, came in my room, and spotted Max.  When she did she said, "Oh Max!  I thought I'd never see you again!"

She uses the word "ever" to make a point.  For example, she will yell, "I want some snacks...EVER!"

She is definitely a movie quoter.  At dinner the other night she starts admiring her fork and she says, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!  Have you ever seen anything so wonderful in your entire life?"

And this morning she says to Max, "Oh Max, you're such a guppy"

She is currently playing with my hair and singing, "Flower gleam and glow..."  She calls me Rapunzel sometimes and that makes me feel special.

haha.  I sure love my funny little family!

Arizona Museum for Youth

A while back I purchased a Groupon to the Arizona Museum for Youth.  It was a 10 visit pass for only $25.  It's a steal since regular admission is $7 for anyone over the age of 1.  I've been wanting to go use it forever, but we've been down to one car again lately since our Aveo is having issues.  Last week my mom came to visit, so we finally had an opportunity to go!  It's not very big, but it's so much fun.  There is so much for your kids to do, you could spend all day there.

The lighting in there was horrible, so these pictures aren't the best quality.   There was a play kitchen and store, a performing studio, a place lined with mirrors for babies, giant blocks...so many things to do.  We stayed in the first room "Artville" for over an hour!

Then we were off to explore the rest of the museum.  There's the cutest little piano.
The keys light up when you play it.  I love it!  Can I have this in my house?

The had a whole section devoted to Looney Tunes (it's being replaced with "Things that Fly" in February).  They had original sketches and artwork, a black light room, a place to make a stop motion video, and a green screen so you could put yourself right in the cartoon!

The also had an area devoted to art and crafts, and right around there was the biggest Lite Brite you've ever seen!  They called it a Pixel Wall.  So fun!

But out of everything, I think this simple wooden playset was Kate's favorite.
She had to save the princess from the dragon many many times.

It was really fun!  We can't wait to go again!

Sidewalk Paint

2 tbls cornstarch + 2 tbls water + 5 drops food coloring =  hours of fun!

Bring it on 2012!

I love the start of new years!  It gives me the time to think about new goals, and the motivation to do them!

*Be more clean and organized!

haha.  I have to laugh when I see that.  I'm sure when people are describing me those words are NOT on their lists.  I am not a clean person, and I'm definitely not an organized person.  But it's time to finally work on that. I've once again re-started the Fly Lady program, and I'm going to stick with it!  I started it last year when I was pregnant with Max, and for the few months that I really stuck with it- my house truly was clean all the time.  But as I got bigger and had less and less energy, I fell off the routine and have been stuck in a rut ever since.

--Organize and actually have an office space to decorate
--Organize children's toys to where they are primarily located in THEIR rooms and not constantly cluttering up my living room
--Go through all our old clothes and DONATE them.  Also, box up old kid's clothes

*Improve my home

When I say I've been in a rut, I've REALLY been in a rut.  This is primarily due to the fact that having a baby and a 2 year old is downright exhausting, especially when your baby still has a sleeping schedule like a newborn.  So, I haven't really been in a doing projects/crafty mood in like...5 months.

--Get a backyard!  I remember this being on last year's goals as well.   BUT- we're actually on our way this year.  Thanks to my wonderful neighbors we now have a weed-free backyard!  And as soon as our tax return comes, we are paying them to landscape our yard as well!  Can I get a Hallelujah?!?
--Paint my table.  I've had the supplies for over a year now...
--Make new curtains for the living room
--Paint all my gold doorknobs with the bronze spray I heard of via Pinterest.

*Expound upon my talents

  --Take a photography workshop
--Join ward choir.  (This may seem silly, but I haven't sung in a choir for 7 years and I miss that part of my life)
--Buy some cutting and coloring instructional dvd's to keep my hair skills fresh

*Be a better wife and mother

--more craft and educational time with Kate
--more dinners on the table and less eating out
--look cute when hubby comes home :)

*Improve my testimony

--Go to the temple.  Renew my recommend.
--Read my scriptures on a daily basis, not on an as-needed basis.

Okay...I think that does it.  Cheers to the new year!
