Sometimes I just need a post to post a bunch of pictures that have been floating around.

Beauty and the Beast

Last Thursday I gave Kate and early birthday present and took her to see Beauty and the Beast!!

I love going to shows, and when I heard this one was coming again, I knew I had to take Kate.  I did some research and found a girl who manages a group buy and I was able to score floor seats for a smoking deal!  We we in the 7th row and it was awesome.

I made this dress for Kate to wear for the occasion.  I thought about getting her the gold dress, but then Dustin suggested that I just make the blue dress and I thought it was a great idea.  No one ever dresses in the blue peasant dress!  She loved looking like Belle, and got lots of compliments on it.

I can't describe to you how much Kate LOVED this!  I was a little nervous that it would be too long for her, but it wasn't!  She kept saying "It's not over yet is it?", and "This is so magical Mommy".  She would clap and cheer loudly at the end of each song.  She had a big smile on her face the whole time and was totally mesmerized by the whole experience.  Worth every penny!!

"What was your favorite part about the show?

"Shot ribbon out." (This is a part of Be our Guest.  They shoot ribbon and confetti out of trumpets into the crowd.  At intermission, she hunted one down to take home.)

"Okay what else?"

"Plate, fork.  Dance, kick!"  This is complete with a dance routine.

"The belle show is so awesome and i like it every time that we come there.  My mom loved it as much as me."

"Was it funny?"

"Yeah.  Beast asking Belle to come to dinner."

"What else did you like?"

"The music, I loved the Belle music."

I have to say that this was the most fun I've ever had with my daughter.  It was so fun to share my love of the theater with her, and I'm glad she loved it so much!  I see many more shows in the future!

Schnepf Farms

Today's preschool was a field trip to play at Schnepf Farms.  This is a farm/amusement park about 5 minutes from our house.  It's super cute and fun.  They only open the rides during their big events, but there is still plenty of stuff to do for free.  They have a few fun playgrounds, and a petting zoo.  That is what we did today.

Kate had so much fun with her friend Evie today.

For the love of...

Watercolor paints,

Apple picnics in our living room,

And dancing to the music of the end credits.

These kids make me happy.

Sick

Kate has been sick for 3 days now.  I've never dealt with a sickness that has lasted this long before.

Poor girl.

When she threw up yet again this morning, I was at a loss.  I asked the facebook world what to do, and the answers came fast.  Sprite, crackers, vitamin c, Pedialyte, probiotics...   I was getting worried because she hadn't kept anything down in 3 days, and her lips were looking really pale- a sign of dehydration.  Sprite and crackers had been her diet for two days now, so I knew she needed something more.  After reading the comments I went searching through my cupboards, and I found a probiotic!  I mixed that in with a vitamin c drink mix, and made her drink the whole thing.  She improved.  Then Beth called and said she would bring over Pedialyte and an anti-nausea medicine.  I gave her those and she improved drastically.  I really had to be on her today about drinking lots of water.

Have you tried to force a child to drink water?  A stubborn child like Kate?  I had to say sentences like, "You have to drink all that water or you will have to go to the hospital."  Which was probably a little harsh and scary, but it got the job done.

At around 3:00 I got a call from a phone number I didn't know.  I usually don't answer when I don't know who is calling, but I did.  It was my friend Tisha, a new sister in my ward whom I had just met at our last Relief Society activity.  She was calling to ask if she could bring me dinner.  I tried to refuse, but she insisted, and I'm glad she did.  It's been an exhausting 3 days taking care of Kate, and even though I don't remember praying for help, I'm grateful she responded to the prompting she got to help me.

Kate continued to improve throughout the day.  I got a lot of fluids in her that stayed down finally, and she even had a little bit of dinner.  I'm really hoping this means she is getting better.

Max and I have been drinking lots of Vitamin C drinks the past few days.  I definitely don't want to catch this, and certainly don't want my baby to get it.

I'm grateful for prayers that were answered today.  I'm grateful for good friends.  From my friends Jeanette and Brianne bringing me sprite and crackers a few days ago, to my always willing to help sister in law Beth bringing me medicine, and Tisha who brought me dinner tonight.  I'm feeling very loved and grateful right now.

Thank you all.

Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope everyone had a fantastic day! Our Easter started bright and early at 6:30. My kids have got an awful habit of waking up early lately.   I pacified them with the iPad in our room as long as I could, but we were downstairs by 7:30.  They were so excited to go downstairs and find what the Easter bunny had hid for them.

They each got eggs filled with candy, a box of their favorite fruit snacks and one toy.  One egg remained empty to remind them of the empty tomb (that week's FHE lesson).  Max got a soccer ball, and Kate got a stuffed Pinkie Pie.

She loves it.
Max loves the soccer ball too!

After doing our egg hunt about 5 times, we had a yummy breakfast of cinnamon rolls and then got ready to go to church.

Our church is now at 11:00, so Max is always crashed on the couch as soon as we get home.

Later that evening we went over to Jaron and Beth's house for Easter dinner.  Our good friends Tony and Leah were there too.  We had an egg hunt for the kids.

And unfortunately that was the end of it for us.  Right after the egg hunt, Kate threw up.  I didn't even know she was sick!  I was hoping that it was just a case of too much easter candy, but we took her home and she was sick all night :(  Looks like we've been hit with the flu again.

Even though it had a not-so-fun ending, Easter was really fun this year.  We are so thankful for this day and all it represents!
