I've been wanting to redo Kate's room for a long time. I mean, Max's room is amazing, so Kate's should be too. A couple weeks ago we found a Groupon for a mural from Murals Your Way. We already had a credit at Groupon because of our anniversary disaster (long story), so we decided to use it for this! They had all kinds of Disney themed murals, and when I saw this one, I just knew Kate would love it.

Candy Corn Kids

Today I got hit by a crafting bug again. These are rare, so I have to blog them so I can prove that I actually DO use my sewing machine, even if it's only once a year :)

I blame my cousin Kim. She posted on facebook that she had made a cute candy corn dress for her little girl. It looked so cute and easy that I just had to do it too. I looked through my stuff and it turns out that I already had everything to make it, so I just went for it. I followed this tutorial, http://www.theribbonretreat.com/blog/candy-corn-pillowcase-dress.html, but I didn't want to make it super baggy, so what I did instead was measure the width of one of Kate's shirts, and added 2 inches for seams. I have very little sewing experience, so I'm so proud of how it turned out!

Then I was inspired to make a matching tie for Max. I found another easy tutorial, and I made this http://imsharingthewealth.blogspot.com/2011/09/little-boy-tie-tutorial.html.

Now we are dressed for October!

Kate loves dress up. Today she dressed in two princess dresses, found necklaces, donned my wedding veil, and wrapped a pirate flag around her shoulders. She kept having me re-tie her "cape". So it gave me an idea. I already had a ton of felt, so I decided to make a couple of super hero capes for my kids. I am not a seamstress by any means. These were made by the super sophisticated method of "eyeballing" it. But, my kids don't care, they LOVE them! I put them on them and they immediately started running around the house, yelling, and jumping all over the couches. I love these kids!

Fall

I'm SO excited it's finally fall! I love it! Even though it doesn't quite feel like fall yet in the valley, it sure does up north. We went up last weekend for our nephew Layton's baby blessing. It was beautiful. We went up Thursday night, hung out in Snowflake all Friday, went to a parade and picnic on Saturday, and the blessing was on Sunday. Saturday was the only day I took out my camera.

On Saturday we went to the Fall Festival parade. Kate loves parades! Or rather, she loves getting all the candy at parades! Sherice and Scott were in the parade, so we had Emmalyn and Layton sitting with us.

That afternoon we headed up to the woods for a picnic. We found a beautiful little spot. It even had a handmade swing and see saw! So much fun! Sorry for the ridiculous picture overload, but that's just who I am :)
