Chop chop

I knew this would happen someday.  It's seems to be a right of passage among little girls.  She also sees me doing it all the time.

Kate cut her hair today.  She took a good two inches of the right side of her hair.  We're lucky it's not very noticeable and all I have to do is even up her layers.

She was so proud of herself when she did it too.  She held up her hair and said, "Mom, look!  My hair was too long so I cut it!"

When she saw that I was mad that she cut her hair she started to cry.

It reminded me of a memory I have from when I was little.  My brother and I had bunk beds growing up.  Sometimes they were stacked, and sometimes they were just side by side.  They were identical dark wood beds.  Every time we moved, I KNEW that the beds had gotten mixed up, and it drove me crazy.  I didn't want to sleep in my brother's bed, gross!  One day I came up with what I thought was a brilliant solution, and I carved my name into my bed so it would never get mixed up again.  When I went to show my mom I thought she would be so excited that I had solved the problem of the identical beds.  Instead of being proud though, I obviously got in trouble.  I had carved my name into wood after all.  I remember how crushed I was at the revelation that I had done something wrong rather than something right.

So I calmly explained to Kate that we don't cut our own hair, even mommy doesn't cut her own hair.  I held her as she sobbed, and I think she's learned her lesson.

Out and About

We've had so much fun this month having Andy live with us. The kids love having him here and I'm loving it too! It's been so nice to have him here with me everyday and he's been a HUGE help. I don't want him to leave!

Last Monday we had to take his car in to get some work done, so we spent the day out and about. I decided to take my camera with me just for fun.

We dropped his car out around 11:00, so the next place we headed was lunch!  We decided to go eat at Red Robin (yum!).

Then we went to play at the San Tan Mall.  We spent most of our time there at the playground, the pet store, and a Build-A-Bear Workshop where the kids helped Uncle Andy make a bear.

We got drinks at Sonic and still had some time to kill so we went to read books at Barnes and Noble.  Max decided to make himself at home.  I can't keep pants on this kid!

Andy flies out on Monday, we hope to have some more adventures before he leaves!

Big news!

Someone is not going to be the baby anymore...

We are shocked and excited to announce that baby #3 is on it's way!

It was planned, but I was not planning on it happening so fast!  We had both gone back and forth about deciding to try for another.  Finally we just decided to sort of try and see what happens.  And BAM! I think Heavenly Father wanted to make sure it happened before we changed our minds :)

This was the first time in all my pregnancies that I knew I was pregnant before I took the test.  I had been dieting and exercising, trying to loose a few pounds before my upcoming high school reunion.  One day it just became impossible for me to only eat 1200 calories.  I was SO hungry.  That was clue #1 for me.  Then I started to become really exhausted and I would easily nap for 2 or 3 hours, and I would sleep HARD.  So that was clue number #2.  Finally I broke down and bought a test.  I took the test 4 days before you are supposed to and that second line showed up right away.  Even though I knew I was pregnant, it was still such a shock to see it confirmed on the test!  I showed the test to Dustin and said, "Holy crap.  What did we just do?!?"

Of course I am super excited, but I did think it would take a little more effort to get pregnant this time.  It took us 6 months with Max so I was expecting a little time to be more prepared for it. I guess when it's meant to be it's meant to be!  It will be a big change, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but it will be an exciting change.

Kate is so excited, Max doesn't really know what's going on.  I think it will be easier to explain to him when I have a belly.  Kate, of course, wants a little sister.  She says that she already has a little brother, so she needs a sister this time.  I don't really care either way.  I already have one of each, so I'm not pulling for either gender.  I love both!  I guess, for Kate's sake, I am leaning a little more towards a girl ;).  Plus making (or buying) matching dresses for my daughters has always been a dream of mine.

Anyway, that's the big news in our life right now!  I will of course keep everyone updated through facebook and this blog of all the pregnancy milestones.

I'm so excited to be a mom of three!

Flight Deck Cafe

Shortly after Kate's birthday, Uncle Andy came to live with us for awhile.  It has been so much fun having him here.  We've gone to the museum, the zoo, and last Saturday we all took a trip to the Flight Deck Cafe.  It's a cute little restaurant at the Williams Gateway airport.  It has big windows so you can watch the planes take off and land while you eat.  It's decorated with memorablia from when the area used to be an airforce base, and tons of model airplanes hang from the ceiling.  My kids loved it!

Then we went outside to look at the planes.  They had four military air crafts right there.

Kate's Birthday!!

Kate is now 4 years old! On Saturday we had a birthday party, and it was as girly as a party can get! It was a Princess Sofia party. Princess Sofia is the new show on Disney Jr and it is a favorite among the little girls right now. We had all the girls wear princess dresses and we had a royal celebration!

The invitation I made:

Sofia is a brand new thing, so they are not really any themed decorations you can go buy, so I just went with the colors, purple, white, yellow and pink.  The tables had white table cloths with a purple wrapping paper runner, I also had purple vases with white and purple flowers in them.  I did a lot of decorating with streamers, mesh ribbon and balloons, and I also made a few fabric banners.  I think it turned out pretty cute!
For food I made cupcakes, white chocolate dipped marshmallows, and a cheese ball and crackers.  I found the cute candy cupcake toppers at walmart, and the cute water bottle labels were a print out I found online.

As the little princesses were arriving the first thing I had the little girls do was color.  I printed some Princess Sofia coloring pages off of Disney Jr.

As soon as everyone was in attendance, we started our next activity, making crowns!  I found these cute sparkly crown kits at Joanns and the girls had so much fun putting them together!
Next up was a reading of the book, Sofia the First!

Then we donned our crowns and went into the "ballroom" to dance!  We danced to the songs of Princess Sofia of course!

Then we had a game of "Pin the Carrot on Clover" (Sofia's bunny friend) hand drawn by Dustin!
Then it was finally time for presents.  Kate got so many cute gifts, thank you all!

After all gifts were opened, we went into the kitchen to sing happy birthday and eat cupcakes.

R-L- Jayde, Emmalyn, Libby, Shailene, Ashlynn, Olivia, Kylie, Evee, Tatytum, Jaylee, Kate, Kensley and Coralee.  These girls are a mix of cousins, friends, neighbors, and girls from her preschool class!
Grandma Watson, Aunt Lacie, and Aunt Bethany were also there!

We got done with everything with time to spare, so we sat down to watch a little of the latest episode of Sofia the First!

The loot:
Dazzling Princess game, Minnie Mouse hair styling toys, purple princess shoes, a crown,play-doh, a Cinderella play-doh kit, a purse and chapstick, coloring books, 3 My Little Ponies, nail polish, nail glitter, and nail stickers, bubbles, a jewelry box, a flying tinkerbell, a tutu and a sofia bow.  Aunt Beth gave little Lalaloopsies and made a little house for them to play in!  Grandma Watson gave the singing Sofia doll, and some cute new clothes.  Mom and Dad gave the big Lalaloopsy, the white dress, and a brand new camera!

I think it's safe to say that Kate had a fabulous birthday!

It was SO much fun to put on this party for Kate, I was worried that it would be hectic with you many girls came, but it went so smoothly and the girls had so much fun.

Happy Birthday Kate, we love you so much!

Sometimes I just need a post to post a bunch of pictures that have been floating around.
