Kate

Kate is 14 months old today. I'm not going to do these month-by-month updates anymore, but I figured it was time for another update on her.

-Kate loves to eat, but will not eat baby food anymore. She absolutely refuses! She loves to eat big girl food.

-She is finally getting more teeth! I looked in her mouth yesterday, and it looks like she's getting her top front teeth and some more molars.

-She can say "mama, dada, vroom vroom, arf arf, thank you, hi, bye, uh oh, jaylee", but she mostly just jabbers all day.

-She tries to dress herself if I've left clothes on the floor

-She loves to play with everything that isn't a toy

-She loves to watch Sesame Street, Curious George and Sid the Science Kid (I hate this one, but they sing alot and I think this is why Kate likes it)

-She loves to make messes

-She loves to play outside and eat rocks

-She LOVES her cousins and is so excited whenever they come over to play

-She loves to play hide and seek, and peek a boo!

-She loves to play with (pull) mommy's hair

-She is a great sleeper! She will take naps at 10:00 and 2:00 and go to bed at 8:00. It's awesome!

-She loves to run, twirl and climb

-She loves to put things where they "belong". I'm staring at diapers in my kitchen cupboards right now. haha.

-She has enough hair in the back for her first pigtails.

-She loves to "help" mommy in the kitchen. I'll put her little apron on and give her a bowl and spoon and she thinks it's great!

-She has a funny sense of humor and will laugh at just about anything.

-She is so adorable and I love her so much. This is such a fun age!

Cousin time!

Dustin and I have finally started to follow the prophet and go on weekly dates :). We watch Jaron and Bethany's kids on Saturday, and they watch our kid on Friday. We've only been doing this for a couple weeks, but so far it's been awesome! I love living by family! Anyway, we watched Maddock and Jaylee on Saturday and it was quite an adventure!

Maddock loves the book "Green Eggs and Ham" only he calls it "The Train Book". He's obsessed with trains, and there are a few pictures of a train in that story. Anyway, he decided he wanted to read it to the little girls.

Speaking of obsessed with trains, Maddock turned our couch into a train! He found anything he could that was circular and made them "wheels". He found a pen and stuck it in the couch and that was his "steering wheel" or whatever you call that on a train. He set all the stuffed animals on the couch (and the little girls) and took us on quite an adventure. This little boy has an amazing imagination! We braved monsters, crashed into the water, and drove really really fast. When Kate would try to stand up he would yell, "Kate, I told you to SIT DOWN on the train!!" Hilarious. This entertained him for about an hour and a half. I guess I know how to keep him entertained from now on!

I love these kids!

Two weeks?

I think this may be the longest I've gone without updating my blog. The truth is, I can't think of anything to write about! All my creative juices have been flowing into photography lately, and there is little left over for anything else. So here is what we've been up to lately.

Kate is such a hoot! Her personality is really coming through lately. She is so expressive, and she loves to show off. She knows she is cute. Example: In church a couple weeks ago we arrived late so we were sitting in the overflow. She would escape from us, run to the front of the chairs, look back at everyone and smile, pose, laugh..etc. She is so funny, and we love her so much.

Like I mentioned before, I am in love with photography! I am so glad I finally bit the bullet and bought my camera. Worth every penny! It seems as though there is an infinite amount of information out there to learn, which makes me very happy because I love learning. I've been offering free practice/portfolio building sessions in June. Those are all booked now, and I will start charging in July. I have my fingers crossed that all will go well with this. It would be so fun to make some money doing this! I've been doing hair from my home lately too, and that's a blast as well.

Dustin is doing good too. He still loves his job, and does awesome illustrations on the side. Have you checked out his blog lately? He's very talented.

We are loving it out here in Queen Creek. We live very close to family, and it's unbelievably awesome. Dustin's brother and sisters live out here, so we've started a tradition of getting our families together every Monday night for FHE. It's so fun. I love it. I was in charge on dinner last night. Check out my cooking blog to see what I made. So delicious.

Well, I think that's enough rambling for one day. I will get better at updating this!

My little explorer

This little girl just loves to explore our house!  Her favorite places to get into are my cupboards.  She's in them constantly!  She loves to take things out of them and hide them elsewhere.  I still can't find my cutting board!

On this day I was distracted cleaning, and I found Kate here.

She had gotten into my pantry, found the hamburger buns, opened them and was chowing down on one saying "Mmmmm!".

She sure is a handful, but I love her for it!

6 years ago, I was on my way to the Snowflake temple extremely nervous and excited to be married.

6 years ago we were sealed for time and all eternity.

6 years ago I was 19 and Dustin was 22.  We were SO young!

6 years ago we were blissful newlyweds with no thoughts of having children.

6 years ago we lived in Thatcher and went to college at EAC.

6 years ago we lived in a one room (scorpion infested!) house and slept on a twin bed.

6 years ago we didn't have cable.  Most of our time was spent playing nintendo 64 and taking advantage of the unlimited blockbuster plans.

6 years ago I worked at the writing center as an English tutor (yeah... I was not good at that job....haha) and Dustin worked the night shift at the local Comfort Inn on the weekends.

Now...

we are still happily married!
We have a beautiful little girl, and are hoping to add on to our family sometime soon!
We purchased our first home (no scorpions yet...knock on wood) and live in Queen Creek.
We have a queen bed. You were worried weren't you?
Our 64 has been replaced with a Wii and many hours of time are wasted playing it.
I am a full-time mom, part-time hairstylist, and apspiring photographer and chef.
Dustin works at US Airways as a graphic designer, and does freelance work as well.

We can't believe that 6 years have already flown by.  We look forward to many many more.  I LOVE YOU DUSTIN!

Testing...

I'm just trying to figure out how to make my pictures bigger in blogger without hosting them on a website like photobucket.

It turns out it's actually a lot easier now. You just need to go to settings-scroll down to global settings- and select the "updated editor". Now when you upload pictures you can mouse over them and choose the size you want. X large fits this blog really well. For my photo blog, it's little more tricky.
